A discrimination expert at Aberdeen’s leading commercial law firm Paull & Williamsons is hosting a series of specialist discrimination law seminars, beginning next month with an introduction to this important area of employment law.
Stuart Robertson, a partner in the firm’s employment law division, said: “Discrimination law presents a significant challenge for employers. The series is intended to give them a greater understanding of the main issues and to generate discussion on how the legislation can be managed by employers in the workplace.
“It is likely the Equality Bill 2009 will become law during this parliamentary session, replacing a multitude of legislation with a single Act. When considered alongside the establishment in recent years of a single Equality and Human Rights Commission, this is the ideal time to consider the changing horizon of discrimination law.”
Stuart has many years of experience of advising and representing large private and public sector organisations in relation to employment law and discrimination law. In addition to his commercial experience as a partner in private practice, Stuart was at one time Head of Legal Affairs for the Commission for Racial Equality in Scotland and has a considerable depth of knowledge of discrimination law and litigation.
Stuart sits on the Law Society of Scotland Discrimination Law Accreditation Panel. He is a member of the Scottish Discrimination Lawyers Association Management Committee and the Law Society of Scotland Diversity and Equality Committee. Stuart is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personal Development.
The seminars take place on selected dates throughout June at Paull & Williamsons’ offices at Union Plaza, in Aberdeen and anyone interested in attending should contact trainingsolutions@paull-williamsons.co.uk or Claire Milton 01224 621621.
