PAULL & WILLIAMSONS’ NEW APPOINTMENTS OFFER SIGNS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
02/09/2010

Six talented young lawyers officially began work this week as qualified solicitors with an  Aberdeen commercial-law firm following the successful completion of traineeships.

The appointment of all Paull & Williamsons’ former trainees is in contrast to what has been happening in Scotland since the onset of the recession, with the number of newly qualified positions within the legal profession having dropped significantly.

The six are: Richard Strachan and Ralph McIntosh who will be joining the firm’s corporate department; Stacey Walker with the oil and gas team; Jennifer Tack and Sara Squire, who will join P&W’s employment-law team; and Samantha Chinn who will take up a position in the commercial-property team.

All six attended university in Aberdeen and have worked as trainees at Paull & Williamsons for two years.

Managing partner, Gordon Buchan: said: “We are pleased, first, to see all of our second-year trainees perform so well during their period of training and, second, to be able to increase the number of qualified lawyers at the firm to pre-recession levels.”   There are now 70 qualified lawyers and 141 staff overall in the firm.  It took on six trainees in 2009 and is due to welcome a further five next week.
